The Canadians prevailed due to the injury of their country’s national team, Alfonso Davis, about two weeks before the start of the World Cup, after he was injured in the match of his team, Bayern Munich and Berlin, on Saturday.
In the 63rd minute of the German Football League contest between the Bavarian team and Hertha, which the Bavarian team won 3-2, Davis gripped his right thigh before he exited in an obvious state of satisfaction.
Bayern’s head coach, Yulian Najelmman, commented on the severity of Davis’s injury “He is at least a rupture in the fibres, the doctor claims. We must wait and see what tomorrow brings (with additional tests).”
This season, Davis, who can play left back or on the flank, started every league game for Bayern Munich except one and took part in every Champions League game with the exception of one.
Davis scored 12 goals for Canada in 35 games.
In preparation for the World Cup in Qatar, Canada will play two friendly games: one on November 11 against Bahrain in Manama and the other on November 17 against Japan in Dubai.
Canada is in the sixth World Cup group, which also includes Belgium on November 23, Croatia on November 27, and Morocco on December 1.
