Maduro goes to Egypt to attend “CoB 27” and calls for a summit to defend the Amazon forests

During a rare overseas travel to attend the United Nations-led climate summit in Egypt, Venezuelan President Nicholas Maduro urged “powerful states” to fund the defence of the Amazon rain forests.
Maduro said he suggested holding a summit in South America on protecting the Amazon forests with Colombian President Gustavo Petro and Brazilian President -elect Luis Inacio Lula da Silva, according to Bloomberg News Agency, Saturday.

Reporters were informed that “we need to resume protecting the Amazon, restoring the Amazon, and unambiguously reflecting the Amazon destruction process to the contrary.” Venezuela also said that it will propose that the major nations support the restoration of those forests.

Maduro requests a gathering to protect the Amazon forests while in Egypt for “CoB 27.”
