Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime has win streak end in semifinal of Paris Masters

The winning streak for Felix Auger-Aliassime has ended.
The Montreal native lost to Holger Rune of Denmark 6-4, 6-2 on Saturday in the Paris Masters semifinals.
Before the defeat in Paris, Auger-Aliassime had won 16 straight games, including three ATP Tour championships. In the Swiss Indoors final last Sunday, he defeated Rune to win for the third time in a row.
On Saturday, Auger-Aliassime found it challenging to keep up with Rune, who depended primarily on his returns to outlast the Canadian.

Rune stated, “I noticed certain statistics showing (my) backhand is performing well in this competition. I made an effort to utilise that, especially when playing Felix, who has an excellent forehand and serve. ”
After the game, Auger-Aliassime praised Rune.
Auger-Aliassime remarked, “He kind of highlighted holes in my game. He was simply playing with such vigour and not missing. Not many players that were this aggressive and hit the ball that hard and deep have I seen or played with.

With his winning streak, Auger-Aliassime has qualified for the ATP Finals, which begin on November 13 in Turin, Italy. For the first time, he has earned a spot in the premier season-ending competition.
The 22-year-old Auger-Aliassime has also made a case for himself to win the Lionel Conacher Award, given by the Canadian Press to the year’s top male athlete.

Rune, 19, will compete in his first Masters final against either five-seeded Stefanos Tsitsipas or six-time Paris Masters champion Novak Djokovic. Later on Saturday, they had their semifinal game.
Rune, who won both of his career championships this year, advanced to his fourth consecutive season final.
He faced no break points while playing in his maiden Masters semifinal and won 86% of his matches on his first serve.
