The Lebanese Prime Minister: The Taif Agreement is of utmost importance as an essential pillar to end the civil war

The Taif Agreement, which was signed about 30 years ago and served as a cornerstone in putting an end to the civil war in Lebanon, is of the utmost importance, according to Lebanese Prime Minister Naguib Mikati, who also emphasised that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia did not leave Lebanon and that it is right next to it.

In a statement made during the National Congress on the 33rd anniversary of the Taif Agreement, Mikati claimed that the conference once more proved that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia had not abandoned Lebanon. He added that the large turnout of attendees proved that the Taif Agreement’s provisions were still the most appropriate ones for Lebanon.

He expressed his conviction that no minister would fail in this national role and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to carrying out its responsibilities in line with the letter of the constitution and laws with honesty, responsibility, and national sense.
