World Health participates in the “COP27” conference to ensure health status at the heart of climate negotiations

The health pavilion during the COP27 Climate Conference of the United Nations, which takes place in Sharm El Sheikh from November 6 to 18, 2022, will be hosted by the World Health Organization and its partners.

According to a statement from the World Health Organization, the health wing will bring together the global health community and its partners to ensure health and fairness in the centre of climate negotiations. The health wing will present a rich programme of events over a two-week period that will display evidence, initiatives, and solutions to maximise health benefits to address climate change across regions, sectors, and societies.

In order to protect public health and lessen dramatic events, the organisation emphasised that the health pavilion will be held at the COP27 climate conference in the blue area of the Sharm El Sheikh International Convention Center. This high-level event will focus on the urgent need to accelerate access to electricity in global health care facilities.

High-level leaders from international organisations and countries will attend the conference, which will give an opportunity to discuss specific methods and prospects for cooperation as well as highlight the key obstacles.

The event highlights the call to work to support the health benefits of the population of Africa and the eastern Mediterranean, as well as the common environmental and climatic benefits, which can be obtained through the implementation of multi -sectors policies and initiatives in the African and Eastern Mediterranean regions.
Also covered are sustainable, low-carbon health systems that can adjust to the climates of the Middle East, Africa, and the African continent.

Air pollution and climate change are considered for sustainable development in Africa with support from the Climate and Air Climate Alliance (CCAC), which collaborates with the United Nations Environment Program. The World Health Organization also engages in the global climate and health area.

To ensure that health status is at the forefront of climate negotiations, World Health participates in the “COP27” conference.
