The study’s presenter, Dr. Louisos Louiso, a professor of paediatrics at the University of Nicosia Medical College, claimed that Cyprus’s cancer epidemic in both children and adults had not been investigated. Louiso pointed out that the four most common types of cancer in Cyprus are leukemia, lymphoma, selected epithelial tumors and central nervous system tumors, which make up 73 percent of all cases.
The doctor noted that children make up 1.5 percent of all cancer cases.
