— (Reuters) Alejandro Garnacho’s goal in Thursday’s 1-0 Europa League victory over Real Sociedad was hailed by Bruno Fernandes of Manchester United, who said the 18-year-old was benefiting from his hard work and a change in mentality.
After 17 minutes, United academy graduate Garnacho scored his first goal for the team after being set up by Cristiano Ronaldo, and his goal gave the Premier League club the victory.

The winger made his second appearance for United after making his complete debut in the team’s 3-0 victory over Sheriff Tiraspol last month.
Fernandes said to BT Sport that Garnacho was “excellent, but he understands we demand a lot from him.”
“He didn’t have the best attitude on the (pre-season) tour. He didn’t receive chances because of this. He is now receiving opportunities because he has improved his training, adopted a different mentality, and earned them.

United advances to the playoffs’ last stage after achieving the victory they needed to surpass Real Sociedad in the rankings on goal differential.
On Sunday, they play Aston Villa at Villa Park in a league matchup.
