The Security Council division prevents its decision on North Korea

If the UN Security Council is divided during its ninth session, no decision will be made this year about North Korea or what should be done to defuse the rising tensions on the Korean peninsula.
On Friday in New York, the fifteen members of the most powerful UN council could not come to an agreement on a joint statement.
Instead, a number of countries – including the United States, Britain and France have condemned – separately the missile tests conducted by Pyongyang.

Kim Young On’s regime in North Korea is currently being put to exceptionally frequent tests.
North Korea reportedly launched more than 25 missiles this week, including an intercontinental ballistic missile with a range of several thousand kilometres, according to the South Korean army.
Observers are also afraid that North Korea’s first nuclear experience will be imminent.

Previous attempts by the Council to act in unison failed because of China’s opposition, which is seen as North Korea’s closest foreign ally.
The military training that takes place between the United States and South Korea, in Zhang John’s perspective, feeds the cycle of escalation, was denounced at the Friday session by the Chinese ambassador.
He did emphasise, though, that Beijing is categorically opposed to any nuclear weapons on the Korean peninsula.

A decision on North Korea is prevented by the Security Council’s divide.
