Japan for the Group of Seven: China must pay its responsibilities as a superpower

China must “act according to its obligation as a superpower,” according to Japanese Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayachi, who also urged the Group of Seven of the world’s largest economies to exert pressure on Beijing.
The Japanese embassy in Berlin released a statement at the same time as the foreign ministers of the other seven countries are meeting in Montser, Germany, for two days.

Hayachi continued by saying that it is crucial to make it known to China that they are “ready to work” in any way that is feasible.
The sole Asian nation in the Group of Seven is Japan.
During their talks, members of the Group of Seven pointed out that “effective cooperation” with China is possible within the framework of the work of the international system based on the bases, despite China’s demand for Taiwan and the pursuit of lands in the nautical and southeast China.

The Group of Seven further stated that it rejects any unilateral efforts to compelfully alter the international order.
The ministers from the Group of Seven urged “a peaceful settlement to the tensions between China and Taiwan.”
Hayachi referred to North Korea’s ongoing missile testing as “a hazardous and unacceptable challenge.”
The group’s foreign ministers also talked about other global issues such as the consequences of the Russian war on Ukraine and dealing with Iran in the future.

The Group of Industrial Countries is searching for more weapons sale operations from Tehran to Russia in addition to the state violence against protesters during anti-government demonstrations.
US National Security Council Director John Kirby recently said that there are still fears that Iran could supply weapons to Moscow such as surface -surface missiles in addition to combat drones.

Along with Japan and Germany, which is the group’s current chair, the other members are the United States, Britain, Canada, France, and Italy.

Japan’s position on the Group of Seven is that China must fulfil its obligations as a superpower.
