The top-ranked tennis player in the world, Carlos Alcaras of Spain, joined Serbian Novak Djokovic in the quarterfinals of the “Paris-Percy” event to continue the successful defence of his title.
Gregor Dimitrov of Bulgaria was easily defeated by Alcaras 6-1, 6-3 in 71 minutes.
Alcaras began his career in this session by quickly defeating Yoshito Nishyuka of Japan 6-4, 6-4 in one hour and fifteen minutes on Wednesday.
The youthful Danish Holgher Rawnah, who defeated ninth-ranked Russian André Rublev 6-4, 7-5, will face the Spaniards in the following round.
Alcararas will ensure the top of the world rankings, which he took after crowning the “Flaching Midoz” championship last September, at the age of nineteen, the youngest player to achieve this achievement, until the end of this year if he crushed the title in Paris.
In a different match, Djokovic continued his winning streak against Karen Khathanov of Russia, beating her for the eighth time in their nine meetings as they decided their match in Paris 6-4, 6-1.
The fourth-ranked Norwegian Casper Road was banned, and the Serbian defending champion in Paris will play Italian Lorentsu Mozetti six times (a tournament record).
