Both US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and Iraqi Prime Minister Muhammad Shi’a Al-Sudani emphasised how crucial it is for relations between the two countries to grow and develop in a variety of areas.
In a statement obtained by the Iraqi News Agency (conscious), the Prime Minister’s Media Office stated: “The Sudanese received a phone call from Blinken on Thursday, where he extended his congratulations to the Prime Minister on the occasion of the formation of the government and its responsibilities.
“The communication witnessed the emphasis on the importance of strengthening and developing relations between Iraq and the United States of America in various fields, and the two sides discussed the mutual commitment to the agreement of the strategic framework between the two countries as well as the common interests in maintaining the security, stability, and sovereignty of Iraq, ” he continued.
“The United States is eager to collaborate with the government and people of Iraq to expand economic opportunities, strengthen Iraq’s energy independence, and address the climate crisis. The US government has also reaffirmed its commitment to aiding Iraq in its fight against the ISIS terrorist network and helping it win.
The US Secretary of State welcomed the Sudanese government’s call to implement reforms and vowed to combat corruption.
Blinken and the Sudanese stress the value of improving ties between Iraq and the United States.
