Three individuals suspected of being members of the terrorist group “ISIS” were detained by Turkish security forces in the southeast of the nation.
According to a statement released by the Mardin State Police Command on Thursday, 3 individuals were detained on Friday at the Public Prosecution’s request.
The statement added that the instructions of the Public Prosecution of the police came under the item “Preventing armed terrorist organizations from carrying out terrorist acts by exploiting religion.
”
He emphasised that the security operation led to the arrest of three individuals who have Syrian citizenship and are believed to be members of the terrorist group “ISIS,” following intelligence reports that they had previously committed terrorist crimes in combat zones in Syria and Iraq.
He emphasised that parallel operations were used to arrest the individuals in three different Mardin neighbourhoods.
He confirmed the transfer of the suspects to the judiciary, after investigating them, as the judiciary ordered that two of them be imprisoned pending the investigation, and the third was released under judicial oversight.
