The new Italian Foreign Minister, Antonio Tajani, participated for the first time in the meeting of the foreign ministers of the Group of Seven Great Industrial Countries, which was held in the city of Munster in western Germany.
The former president of the European Parliament urged for increased coordination on the immigration issue at the European level outside of the Group’s meeting of foreign ministers.
Today, Tajani posted the following on Twitter: “The Italian perspective on the ships linked with NGOs, which likewise have to respect the European bases.
The marine rescue ship “Humaniti 1” is one of the numerous ships connected to these organisations that are presently waiting off the coast of Italy with roughly 1,000 illegal immigrants awaiting the selection of a safe port to do it.
It is notable that the seven foreign ministers’ meetings started today and will last through Friday.
Until the end of this year, Germany will take over the periodic presidency of the group, which also includes the United States, Canada, Japan, Britain, France and Italy..
Italy requests improved collaboration on the immigration issue at the European level.
