Moscow announced the “Partial Mobilization” campaign for approximately 300,000 reserve soldiers had completed last week, although it has acknowledged that it was hampered by issues. More than two thousand people were arrested in protests amid a public discontent due to the summons of men to fight, although they should be exempted for medical reasons, as well as because of their lack of any military experience.
In a decree posted on the Kremlin website, Putin said the amount aims to “take additional measures for social support” for contracting soldiers who were called, without going into other details.
A contracting soldier’s minimum monthly pay is 160 000 rubles (2 700 dollars), or roughly three times the average salary in Russia.
Putin is directing the contracting soldiers in the Ukraine war to receive $3,200.
