Barcelona, Spain legend Gerard Pique announces retirement

Gerard Pique, a defender for Barcelona and three-time champion of the Champions League with the Spanish team, has announced his retirement at the age of 35.
Pique announced that “this Saturday will be my last game at Camp Nou” in a video that was uploaded to his Twitter account this morning.
Pique declared, “This stage of my life must come to an end now. “I’ve always said there won’t be another club after Barcelona, and that’s how it will be. ”
Pique has 615 appearances under his belt with 52 goals for Barcelona.

He assisted Barcelona in winning eight Spanish league titles, seven Copa del Rey championships, and three European Cups in addition to other titles.
He participated in the 2010 World Cup for Spain in the 2012 European Championship for Spain.
However, Pique lost his starting spot this season because Barcelona added fresh players to the position of centre back, where he had spent the majority of his career.
On Saturday, Barcelona hosts Almera (local time).

After divorcing Shakira, the mother of his two children, this summer, Pique announced his retirement.
