Cambridge to hold camp Friday for parents in need in event of Catholic school closures

The City of Cambridge has announced that it will conduct a day camp on Friday for those with children between the ages of 6 and 12 in anticipation of impending strike action in the education sector.
On Thursday at 4 p.m., the city’s website for active and recreational activities will open for registration for the camps.
The city claims that through games, activities, and crafts, kids will be engaged and active.
The camp will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the John Dolson Centre.

Due to CUPE members’ anticipated strike on Friday, Catholic schools in the Waterloo Region are expected to be closed. CUPE has been in contract negotiations with the Ford administration for months.
In the case of a strike on Friday, the Waterloo Catholic District School Board has stated that it will switch to remote instruction.
A Cambridge representative informed Global News that they are trying to arrange camps that will facilitate remote learning next week if the strike continues past Friday.

Staff would let kids log on to their own devices so they could interact with their teachers as needed. For further information in the coming days, please visit cambridge. ca/camps, the spokeswoman said via email.
If schools are closed on Friday, a spokeswoman for the City of Waterloo confirmed there are no camps scheduled.
In an effort to find out if there were any comparable plans, Global News also contacted the City of Kitchener, but as of the time of publication, no comment had been received.

For parents in need, Cambridge will host a camp on Friday in case Catholic schools close.
