Chairman of the Tunisian Electoral Commission: Accepting 1058 applications for candidacy in the upcoming legislative elections

Farouk Bouakar, the head of the Independent High Commission for the Tunisian Elections, reported that 1058 applications were initially accepted by the authority prior to the appeal phase, out of a total 1427 candidates who had filed papers to compete in the next parliamentary elections.

Bouachar said – during a press conference held on Thursday evening, that the number of rejected candidacy requests reached 363 candidacy requests, adding that the reasons for the rejection came due to a defect in the zakat and the lack of required legal documents.
He emphasised that 476 thousand zakat recommendations were found to be appropriate for the candidates, while 38,000 were found to be unsuitable.

Accepting 1058 applications for candidacy in the next legislative elections, according to the chairman of the Tunisian electoral commission.
