USDA expands rural initiative to more Wisconsin counties

The Rural Partners Network will now include 12 Wisconsin counties, according to the US Department of Agriculture, which made the announcement in Green Bay, Wisconsin (WBAY).
According to the USDA, the programme offers access to infrastructure for job growth and support for a stable economy.
Secretary Tom Vilsack and Ambassador Susan Rice traveled to Wisconsin Wednesday to meet with people and organizations set to benefit from the program.
Sec. Vilasck spoke with WBAY in person on Wednesday.

According to Vilsack, “We have rural desk officers in each of those organisations whose role it is to interact with local people to find programmes that will help them most, and then be able to lead them through the tangle of applying for and receiving resources from the federal government.”

The following counties are included in the expansion: Ashland, Iron, and Price counties in Northern Wisconsin; Menominee Indian Tribe of Wisconsin and Menominee County in Greater Menominee; Forest County Community Network; and Eau Claire, Dunn, Clark, Buffalo, Pepin, and Chippewa counties in Northwestern Wisconsin and Adams County Visionary Community Network.
Federal employees will assist rural areas with federal programmes and grant applications.

The ability to feed a population that is expanding presents a challenge for agriculture not only in the United States but also globally. More grains and more protein will be required. The United States must take care to prevent concreting over that valuable farmland, according to Vilsack.
