Pope Francis arrives in Bahrain

To commemorate the first visit of the Catholic Church to the Kingdom, a formal welcome ceremony for the Pope was held in the capital city of Bahrain.
The King of Bahrain, Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, presided over these festivities after the Pope’s aircraft touched down at Sakhir Air Force Base west of Manama.
Early on Thursday, the Bahrain Forum for Dialogue, with the theme “East and West for Human Coexistence,” began. It will last until Friday.

It is attended by a number of well-known religious leaders and intellectuals from around the world, including Pope Francis and Sheikh Al-Azhar Ahmed Al-Tayeb.
Pope Francis has given religious dialogue a high priority since becoming the helm of the Catholic Church, notably with the Islamic faith.
In remarks made previous to the visit, he stated: “The visit will be framed by the discourse.

I will take part in a discussion about the need for East and West to interact more in order to promote human coexistence, and I will have the chance to engage with clerics, particularly Muslims.
