Ahmed Aboul Gheit: Arab governments embrace the publishing industry in faith in its enlightening role

The League of Arab States’ Secretary-General, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, emphasised that the Arab League views culture as a link connecting Arab nations and that it is equally important to the other components of cooperative Arab action. Culture also remains the strongest link because it is based on the Arabic language, which Arabs use to read and write academic and creative works. This is what makes the cultural association the most resilient and significant in the coming together of Arabs.

This came in his recorded speech during a registered speech during his participation in the activities of the first day of the sixth session of the “Arab Publishers Conference” at the Sharjah Expo Center, under the slogan “Content making and post -pandemic challenges”, in conjunction with the first days of the 41st session of the Sharjah Show The worldwide book, in which 35 Arab publishers and speakers are taking part, addresses a number of problems and subjects related to the future of the Arab publishing sector.

The Secretary-General of the League of Arab States praised the reading trends that have been observed in recent years among the various Arab world segments as a result of serious efforts to encourage young people to develop the habit of reading, particularly the successful initiatives that originated in the United Arab Emirates, and he urged Arab governments to continue supporting the publishing sector for its work because it plays an educational role in Arab societies.

Ahmed Aboul Gheit: Arab countries support the publishing sector because they believe in its capacity to enlighten.
