‘The violence has to stop’ – mum of indigenous boy allegedly beaten to death

At a rally in Perth, the mother of an indigenous adolescent named Cassius Turvey called for reform.
Following a horrible murder that has brought new attention to Australia’s racism issue, thousands of people gathered overnight around the country to offer their condolences.
Cassius, 15, was reportedly walking along Lloyd St about 4. 30pm on October 13 when a group of strangers got out of a car and accused him of smashing windows.
He allegedly suffered head trauma from being struck with a metal pole.

After being first released from the hospital, Cassius returned after experiencing convulsions.
On October 23, after being put into an induced coma, he passed away.
Jack Brearley, 21, has been charged by police with murder, and his next court appearance is scheduled for November 9.
Friends of Cassius said Brearley yelled racial epithets at them as he pursued them.
The violence “needs to stop, it really does, because it’s not just about Cassius,” Mechelle Turvey told reporters yesterday night.

She cautioned the throng to remain composed, though.
She cautioned, “I get upset too; it’s how you control your anger.”
We can’t help but feel things, but geez, we can’t work for peace while having a bad opinion of white people.
Anthony Albanese, the prime minister of Australia, commented on the incident and stated that it was “obviously” racially motivated.
He stated that Australia needed to make major progress last night on The Project.

According to him, Native Americans are more prone to experience violence in this nation than non-Native Americans.
“We need to acknowledge that, and we need to improve significantly.”

The mother of an allegedly murdered indigenous youngster says, “The brutality has to stop.”
