After North Korea launched what the army characterised as a “unidentified ballistic missile” near its eastern coast on Wednesday, South Korea issued a warning to the people of Ulungdo Island on National TV.
According to Yonhap News Agency, which cited defensive missile officials, the plane flew near the island before coming down at sea.
The North Korean Yonhap Agency quoted the South Korean armed forces as saying that Pyongyang fired the missile towards the Sea of Japan.
The South Korea General Staff announced the monitoring of the missile launch by North Korea without revealing more details immediately.
