For Pennsylvania voters to choose between Republican and Democratic candidates to win the midterm elections, the energy issue is heavily weighed.
Pennsylvania is famous for being the largest energy producer in the United States, as it is rich in resources of natural gas, coal and oil, which puts the energy file as an essential part of the electoral agenda of the US Congress candidates.
Michael Mayer, a lecturer at Harris Berg University of Science and Technology and an expert on energy sources, notes that the cost of gasoline and electricity will be a key factor in voter perceptions in this state while also highlighting the significance of oil and natural gas in it.
It is still simpler to get to a gas station than a power plant, despite the government’s efforts to increase these options. The expert continues, “Certainly, there is a middle area that combines natural gas and oil on the one hand, and renewable energy sources on the other. However, there is no high likelihood for a future without energy sources that produce carbon in some way.
“While Pennsylvania is a key supplier of electricity to many other states and is largely responsible for lighting the federal capital, Washington, it suffered from the effects of climate change due to underestimating voter interest and awareness of its effects.
Priorities and the climate
Lina Patrichen, an environmental science expert and lecturer in Pennsylvania, asserts that although Pennsylvanians are interested in climate change, they do not consider it frequently.
She continues, “and so we have to know the authenticity and validity of the candidates of the candidates on climate change. Every political campaign naturally has certain aims, and it will endeavour to fulfil them through its own candidate.
Despite having a surplus of oil and gas, Pennsylvania is moving swiftly to rely on renewable energy sources because the sector employs more than 75,000 people there.
The energy issue in this state, with all of its complications, including those related to the quick transition to clean energy or the extension of the oil and natural gas supply, is confirmed by experts to have a significant impact on voters’ directions and their voting decisions in the upcoming midterm elections.
Despite the “availability of oil,” Pennsylvania video reports show that renewable energy is the way forward.
