Amir Said Arafani, Iran’s ambassador to the United Nations, wrote in a letter to the organization’s members that “the United States has no true and actual concern about the human rights situation in Iran or anyplace else.”
He referred to the demonstrations as an internal matter and cautioned that any discussion of this matter by the UN Security Council would have “negative results regarding the development of human rights.”
The United States lacks the necessary political, moral, and legal credentials to host such a summit, which undermines the foundational ideas of human rights.
Iran has been witnessing protests since the death of the Kurdish, Muhsa Amini, 22, in the seizure of the Ethics Police last month.
The turmoil has turned into a popular revolution by the Iranians from all classes of society, which constitutes one of the most daring challenges of the religious leadership in the Islamic Republic since the 1979 revolution.

The meeting on Wednesday is intended to “highlight the continuous repression of women, girls, and members of religious and ethnic minorities in Iran,” according to the American mission to the UN. It will also discuss ways to strengthen trustworthy and independent investigations into Iranian human rights violations.
For his part, Arafani questioned the United States’ commitment to defending Iranian women, and called on the United Nations member states to “explicitly object to such reckless and dangerous practices through which the United States is trying to create such a dangerous precedent and politicization of human rights issues in order to achieve its political agenda. ” ..
