The Russian Foreign Ministry summons the Dutch ambassador because of Britain’s attempts to recruit diplomats at the Russian Embassy in The Hague

With the help of his blog, the Russian Foreign Ministry summoned the Dutch Ambassador to Moscow today, Monday, and voiced its displeasure with the activities taken by foreign intelligence services against Russian diplomats stationed in The Hague.

According to Russia Today, the Russian Foreign Ministry issued a statement in which it said: “The Netherlands Ambassador in Moscow, with the tradition of its Blu, was called to the Russian Foreign Ministry, and he was informed of Moscow’s strong protest against attempts by British Intelligence to recruit the military attache at the Russian embassy in The Hague on October 20.”

Such provocative measures, the Ministry emphasised, “are undesirable, contravene the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations of 1961, and impede the regular operations of Russian diplomatic missions abroad.”
The government also stated that this is not the first time that foreign intelligence services have provoked the Netherlands in recent years.

The Dutch ambassador is summoned by the Russian Foreign Ministry as a result of Britain’s efforts to recruit diplomats at the Russian Embassy in The Hague.
