In the wake of a call to the US and Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and his Chinese counterpart, Wang Yi, discussed the competition between their two countries and the invasion of Ukraine during a phone call on Sunday, according to the US State Department.
The necessity to maintain open lines of communication and responsibly handle relations between the United States and China was emphasised by the foreign minister.
According to the Chinese Foreign Ministry, “the restoration of the Sino-American relationship to the road of stable development is not only in the interest of both sides, but also a universal desire for the entire community.”
The two powers face several controversial points, most notably Taiwan, the Sea of China, and the human rights in Xinjiang (northwest), technological competition, and commercial war.
According to a statement from Nid Price, the two parties also discussed the Russian invasion of Ukraine and “Russia’s risks to world security and economic stability.”
Wang Yi urged “all parties to control” on his part.
China issued a statement stating that the minister demanded “intensifying diplomatic measures to avoid the situation from worsening further.”
Some Western nations believe that China, which formally supports the Russian incursion, is particularly forgiving toward Moscow.
The call between Chinese and American officials comes days after a phone conversation between Wang Yi and his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov.
Wang stated to Farf on Thursday that “China is prepared to strengthen the interactions with Russia at all levels.”
Competition between their two nations and the Russian invasion of Ukraine are topics of discussion between China and America.
