“Qatar Energy” seeks to acquire 30% of the gas project off Lebanon

According to the CEO of Qatar Governmental Energy Company, negotiations are ongoing with Total Enege, Eni, and the Lebanese government to purchase 30% of a marine exploration zone.
The CEO of the Qatari company, Saad Al -Kaabi, added on Sunday: “We discuss this with the government of Lebanon and with the partners, Total and Eni, in order to participate about 30 percent in the ownership of the exploration area.

We will make an announcement when everything is finalised, essentially becomes an agreement, and it has been signed. ”
Two sources had informed “Reuters” last week that Total Engels and the Lebanese government have reached an agreement that gives the French giant of this control temporarily control over the concession area, and paves the way for negotiations with Qatar on a stake in the gas project.

A coalition made up of the three businesses French Total Enem, Italian Eni, and your Russian nofak received the inaugural exploration licence. Beirut announced Novak’s departure, in which it held a 20% share, in September.
On October 21, the Lebanese Council of Ministers made a decision that was not disclosed, transferring the Novak interest to a firm called (Daga 216) and the 40% of Total Enem’s part to another business, called (Daga 215).

The two sources had told “Reuters” that Total Enemz owned Daga 215 and Daga 216.
The two sources pointed out that the understanding between Total Enemz and Lebanon requires that the French group enter into negotiations with Qatar Energy on the previous Novak share, and that Qatar is seeking to obtain a 30 percent stake, consisting of the previous Novak share and five percent of both Total and Eni.
