The left-leaning candidate for president of Brazil was congratulated by US Vice President Joe Biden for winning in “free, fair, and reliable” elections.
In a statement, Biden said, “I congratulate me on Luis Inacio Lula da Silva’s election as president of Brazil following free, fair, and reliable elections.” Was added that he “looks to work” with him to maintain bilateral cooperation.
Emmanuel Macron, the president of France, thanked Lula as well, saying that Brazil’s election of him as president “opens a new page in the history of” this nation.
“Together we will join our efforts to meet the many common challenges and rekindle the bonds of friendship between our two nations,” Macron wrote on Twitter shortly after the results of the Brazilian presidential election were announced.
