American intelligence guidance to evaluate threats against politicians before Congress elections

An intelligence report that instructed law enforcement personnel to evaluate the dangers of physical attacks on politicians was made public by the American magazine “Politico.”
The memorandum was planned, according to the magazine, by assessing the likelihood of threats to physical attacks on elected leaders or election officials in the days leading up to the midterm elections for the American Congress next month.

Local authorities and other people with knowledge of the situation were cited by “Politico” as saying that fear heightened after Nancy Pelosi’s husband got aggressive at his San Francisco home.
According to the details of the attack, striker David Depab entered the house in search of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, which was at the time in Washington, DC.

The Ministry of Internal Security, the Federal Investigation Office, the American Capitol Police, and the National Center for Combating Terrorism issued the intelligence bulletin requesting the evaluation of threats to clarify how violent extremists could threaten the midterm elections, including the election sector workers.

John Cohen, the former director of terrorism at the Ministry of National Security, was quoted by Politico as saying that “there have been a significant number of violent incidents out of political discourse and political social discourse propagated in extremist forums.”
The attack on Pelosi’s husband is only one of many, he said. These people are turbulent and angry and try to justify violence to express their anger.

The Ministry of Internal Security and the Federal Investigation Office are being pressured for more space to discuss the current climate, which is said to be “unparalleled in danger On the legislators,” according to a person with direct knowledge of the discussions with law enforcement officials. Groups and organisations, including local law enforcement units focused on local threats, are also being pressured for more space.

Pelosi is one of the most visible opponents of the Republican Party, and the Democrats on Capitol Hill have long warned that she is in particular danger.
However, there was also greater worry that the current political and media climate has produced a circumstance that legislators are increasingly focusing on.
Nearly 10,000 threats were made against members of Congress last year, more than twice as many as in 2018, according to the American Associated Press.

Before Congress elections, American intelligence advice will assess risks to lawmakers.
