The International Publishers Conference’s 12th session, which will take place before the Sharjah International Book Fair in 2022 and feature 33 speakers and publishing industry experts, started its first activities this morning. The conference will run from October 30 to November 1 this year.

The Publishers Conference is currently observing a series of dialogue and discussion sessions on the future of the publishing industry, as well as the potential open to publishers to use cutting-edge digital solutions to grow their companies and find new markets for their books.

Prior to the start of the Publishers Conference’s activities, which are held before the start of the 41st session of the Sharjah International Book Fair, the Sharjah Book Authority announced that 971 requests from publishing houses, literary agents, and publishing industry experts from 92 countries had been received.

It is noteworthy that the Arab Publishers Union will host the Arab Publishers Conference, in its sixth session, on the days of November 2 and 3, at the Sharjah Expo Center, with the League of Arab States as its guest of honour.

The conference’s activities this year are held in conjunction with the 41st session of the Sharjah International Book Fair under the theme “Arab content industry and post-pandemic challenges,” honouring the “League of Arab States,” a guest of honour of its new session.

The conference, held in strategic partnership with the “Sharjah Book Authority,” brings together 35 publishers and speakers in 8 sessions over two days, including representatives of Arab book fairs, the heads of Arab publisher federations and associations, and experts and specialists in the publishing, content, and creative industries.

The conference sheds light on the experiences of Arab publishers in dealing with the challenges imposed by the Korona pandemic, especially on the manufacture of the book and education and supply chains, and the opportunities for marketing the Arab book after the pandem Expression, along with the skills gap, the importance of the Arabic language, and the influence of the writer and the publisher on it.
