An Egyptian jar made of ornate Fatimid pottery that dates to the tenth and eleventh centuries was sold at Sotheby’s auction in the British capital of London for 693,000 pounds, or 18. 627,840 Egyptian pounds.
According to the auction house, the oval vessel was up for auction at the “The Arts of the Islamic and Indian World” auction that I organised, with what was in that eastern carpet, which includes the auction many paper manuscripts and various Quranic Qur’ans in terms of form and design, in addition to Islamic manual carpets. The estimated price range for the oval vessel was 400 thousand pounds, up to 600 thousand pounds, and the bidding process ended at 693 thousand pounds.
The container is described as having an oval shape on a flat base, a high tape on the shoulder, a short tilted neck in the interior, and an inverted edge. The body of the container is decorated with an interlocking geometric pattern of cables that forms four oval cartridges that contain a coffee line booked in exchange for a glossy ground material with lines. Disturbed in the sparkle, a wide koff strip with flowering rises in friezing around the bottom of the body, the shoulder with a strip of cable decoration and a brake around the neck, the inner part is glazed.
