According to an art historian, Dutch painter Beit Mondrian was hanged upside down in various showrooms over 75 years ago. Despite the artist’s recent discovery, the work titled New York City or New Yuk City will continue to be displayed incorrectly in order to prevent damage.
Mondrian’s tablet was hung in the German Rhine Westphalia, Germany’s art collection in Düsseldorf since 1980 after being displayed upside down for the first time in 1941 at the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
Amina warned that artwork may disintegrate if it was hanged from the right side in the new show of the artist earlier this year, per the BBC website, but she also emphasised the long-term error in the state of North Rhine’s collection of art, Suzan Maeer Brazer.
The New York City board, which is on exhibit at the Bombido Center in Paris, shows heavy lines on top rather than the bottom, providing evidence that this idea is correct.
In addition, a photo of the well-known Dutch artist that was shot a few days after his passing shows the identical artwork positioned on a carrier facing the opposite way.
In June 1944, the picture appeared in the American Lifestyle Tour and Country.
One of the finest artists of the twentieth century and a pioneer of the modern abstract movement, Mondrian was born in the Dutch province of Utrecht in 1872.
In search of “Global Beauty,” Mondrian, a co-founder of the De Stijl movement, created a non-representative shape he named “New Plastic,” relocated to Paris in 1911, and experimented with cubism, yet his name remained a byword for modernism.
