In a shooting encounter with militants in the Khyber region of Bakhtoun Khwa, in the northwest of the country, two Pakistani soldiers were killed, according to the army.
Two troops were killed in the Darzinda region of the province of Deir Ismail Khan, according to a statement from the army that was published in the Pakistani newspaper The Don. The army added that the area is being cleared of any militants.
This occurred a few days after two assailants were killed while attempting to attack the provincial office of the head of a peace committee. A police official claimed that the assailants were two suicide bombers who were on a motorcycle and wearing explosive vests.
