Vancouver Canucks acquire defenceman Ethan Bear from Carolina Hurricanes

By acquiring defenseman Ethan Bear and winger Lane Pederson from the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for a fifth-round draught pick, the struggling Vancouver Canucks strengthened their lineup on Friday.
Bear, 25, played 58 games for the Hurricanes last year and recorded 14 points. However, he has yet to play in an NHL game this year.
The Saskatchewan native, who stands six feet tall and weighs 200 pounds, has played in 190 NHL games with Carolina and Edmonton and has a career point total of 47 (13 goals, 34 assists).

Ethan Bear is traded by the Edmonton Oilers to Carolina in exchange for Warren Foegele.
The Canucks general manager, Patrik Allvin, stated in a statement: “We’re happy to have added an accomplished defenseman to our blue line.” With his right shot, his ability to move pucks, and his quickness in getting the puck out of our own zone, it provides the coaching staff another option.
“(Bear’s) transition game has been something that I’ve watched over the years that I like.

In accordance with the agreement, Carolina will keep $400,000 of Bear’s $2. 2 million contract, which will expire at the conclusion of this year.
Pederson, 25, participated in four games this year with the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League.
