The Tunisian president demands the necessity of preserving state institutions

According to the media, Tunisian President Qais Saeed emphasised the need to protect state institutions today, Saturday, while reiterating that while liberties are granted in his nation, there is no tolerance for conspiracies that compromise state security.

After finishing a meeting with military and security authorities in the Carthage Palace to review current events in the country, Tunisian President Qais Said issued a firman to suspend all legislative powers in light of the nationwide protests against the Brotherhood Renaissance movement.

This comes after Tunisian protesters overran the Brotherhood Renaissance movement’s headquarters in Tozeur, Kairouan, and Sousse on Sunday.
In the seaside governorate of Sousse, protesters gathered in front of the Renaissance movement’s offices and tore down the party’s banner as they chanted for the Brotherhood and its Tunisian leader, Rashid Ghannouchi, to be removed from power.

The president of Tunisia insists that maintaining state institutions is essential.
