US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken announced today, Friday, that the US Department of State will give Ukraine an additional $ 275 million in military aid, including guns, ammunition, and equipment.
Blinken continued by saying that his nation is also striving to equip Ukraine with the necessary air defence capabilities through the NASS system, which was supplied by the US and will be delivered to Ukraine next month.
According to Reuters, he also said that Washington is coordinating with allies and partners to make it possible for Ukraine to receive its air defence systems.
The upcoming security assistance package that President Joe Biden’s administration will give to Ukraine is expected to include ammunition and vehicles and will cost $725 million, according to two American officials who were familiar with the situation last Friday. However, it won’t include new capabilities or air defences.
Instead of removing them from existing US weapons supplies, Washington often purchases weapons from manufacturers with money from the Ukrainian security aid effort, including the NASS (NASS), which is anticipated to be sent this month.
And the American Raytheon Technologies and the Norwegian Kongesburg both manufacture the advanced air defence system (NASSSAS).
The latest addition brings the entire amount of US security assistance provided to Ukraine since the Russian operation started on February 24 to more than $17.5 billion.
