Dozens of fires in Spain due to increased temperatures

40 fires were recorded in the Asturase Kanbart and Basque regions, according to local emergency services.
The National Meteorological Authority in Spain announced on Thursday that this month may be the hottest October since records began, and that every day of the month—aside from the first few—saw the highest natural temperature ever recorded at this time of year.

The Basque Meteorological Authority increased the alert level for the region’s risk of forest fires on Thursday, ranging from moderate to high, depending on each location.
“We have an orange warning today, and it is expected that the alarm from forest fires will also be on Saturday and Sunday,” firefighter John Sanshir told Reuters, while breaking out firefighting in Bassay Province in Superella.

Several waves of extreme heat have hit temperatures in which temperatures reached more than 40 degrees Celsius in southern Europe during the summer, as part of the world’s temperature -increasing model, scientists and climate experts say that the cause is widely due to human activity.
According to government statistics, this year’s forest fire season in Spain was the worst ever, resulting in the destruction of 260 thousand hectares (642,500 acres).

According to data from the European Union’s joint research centre, forest fires throughout Europe totaled 775941 hectares this year, which is the second-largest registered area in history.
