Russian Foreign Ministry: The West punishes the countries of Africa and Asia by preventing the export of fertilizers and foodstuffs

According to Russia Today, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs claimed that by blocking the export of agricultural products and Russian fertilisers to international markets, the United States and Europe are harming the nations of Africa, Asia, and Latin America.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a statement released today, Friday, that the situation relating to the implementation of the Istanbul agreements is a dispute with Ukraine. Russia is one of the world’s top exporters of fertilisers, and without them, not only will the countries that consume food be exposed to the risk of starvation, but the countries that produce food as well. However, Russian companies can still not only supply the global market with fertilisers, but they can also supply fertilisers to domestic markets in Russia.

” In its statement, the ministry indicated that these fertilizers are still mainly blocked in Latvia (80%) warehouses, as well as Estonia, Belgium and the Netherlands, whose powers do not allow them to be charged through the United Nations World Food Program.
The unilateral Western sanctions, which were meant to be neutralised by the fulfilment of the Istanbul agreements, according to the Russian Foreign Ministry, are the primary cause of this crisis.

According to the ministry, “Americans and Europeans are actually penalising the countries of Africa, Asia, and Latin America by impeding the entry of agricultural products and Russian fertilisers into international markets.”
