Hatem Al -Najeeb, deputy head of the Vegetable and Fruit Division, said that the central bank’s decision to raise the interest rate and liberalize the exchange rate does not affect the prices of vegetables and fruits, especially as we are exporting and not importing any agricultural product from abroad.
He pointed out that there are several global factors that affect agricultural products, highlighted by the weather fluctuations that we are witnessing locally and affect crops and prices, pointing out that climatic changes this year have not seen them for 4 years, which explains the instability facing vegetable and fruit prices.
Despite the fact that there is a plethora of agricultural produce and other products on the market, he continued by saying that climatic variables had an impact on the import volumes.
