Seven.. Bayern Munich’s third win in a row

Despite the loss of its Polish top scorer Robert Lewandowski, who moved to Barcelona, Bayern Munich, the defending champion, continued its fiery start to the new season by achieving his third victory in a row and the second in a scoring fest, and came at the expense of its host Bochum 7-0 on Sunday in the third stage of the German Football League.

After opening the season with a 6-1 thrashing of Eintracht Frankfurt, Bayern won its first home game 2-0 against Wolfsburg, and then dominated Sunday at the Bochum stadium, where it lost 2-4 last season, with a sweeping victory that settled it in the first half. With a 4-0 advantage.

Due to the injuries to Canadian Alfonso Davies and Jamal Musila, who scored three goals in two games, coach Julian Nagelsmann made changes to his squad for the first time this season, giving Dutch newcomer Matthias de Ligt his first start, while Frenchman Luca Hernandez moved to the left side of the defence line.

Nagelsmann’s selection was successful, as the three first-time participants scored the first three goals, through Sani (4), De Ligt (25) and Koeman (33), before Senegalese newcomer Sadio Mane scored his second goal in the Bavarian shirt (42) then the third (60 from a penalty kick) and Costa Rican Christian Gamboa sixth by mistake in his team’s goal (69) and substitute Gnabry seventh (76).

Bayern reclaimed the lead with a full nine points, two points clear of its next opponents, Borussia Monchengladbach, Union Berlin, and Mainz.

Bochum, on the other hand, suffered a third consecutive defeat and remained without points in last place with a goal difference behind Bayer Leverkusen, who in turn suffered three consecutive defeats in a completely different appearance from last season, finishing third behind Bayern and Borussia Dortmund and ahead of Leipzig.

Bayern Munich’s third consecutive victory.
