Washington orders its non -primary diplomats to leave Abuja

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the United States ordered its non-essential diplomats and their families to leave the Nigerian capital of Abuja on Thursday owing to the “increase of the threat of terrorist strikes.”
Washington gave its non-primary ambassadors permission to leave the city on Tuesday. Western embassies have recently advised numerous people to restrict their travel within the nation.

After a large-scale prison break from the Koji prison outside the city in July, Abuja residents and those in the neighbouring districts, particularly Western diplomats, are growing more anxious about the level of insecurity.
The police and the army declared a bolstering of security measures in the city and its surroundings after more than 400 captives, including dozens of suspected jihadists, left. However, Abuja is surrounded by mountainous and forested areas that are challenging to secure.

Following many warnings from the West, the Nigerian government affirmed that they were “taking all essential safeguards.”
