Pique and Alba, the first victims of the European farewell in Barcelona

Barcelona officials decided to overthrow the duo Gerard Pique and Jordi Alba from the Catalan team during the upcoming winter transfer period.
Barcelona said goodbye to the Champions League contests on Wednesday and switched to playing in the European League for the second consecutive year.

The Barcelona administration has reportedly begun talks with the Pique and Alba combo about leaving the Blaugrana even though their contracts expire in June 2024, according to the Catalan newspaper “Sport.”
The newspaper added that Barcelona officials are seeking to get rid of the old guard within the ranks of Barca, in order to continue the project of establishing a new team under the leadership of the young coach Xavi Hernandez.

The remaining balance of Pique and Alba’s contract from the previous season, which totals 145 million euros and is split between 80 million euros for Picky and 65 million euros for Jordi Alba, is the only thing standing in the way of Barca selling Pique and Alba during the transfers in January 2023, she continued.

The newspaper ended its report, that the administration is negotiating with the pair Pique and Alba, in order to reduce their remaining dues this season, in order to facilitate their exit in January, and take into account the club’s economic conditions.
In the case that Pique and Jordi Alba are released, Sergio Busquets and Sergey Roberto will still be playing for Barcelona.

Pique and Alba were the first casualties of Barcelona’s farewell to Europe.
