Ethiopia declares is prepared for the fourth filling… while an expert warns of the Renaissance Dam’s impending collapse.

The Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam administration denied that the Saddle Dam had any faults and stated that it hoped to complete the Renaissance Dam building project in less than two years.
Ethiopia is attempting to run the remaining turbines in the dam in order to get ready for the fourth filling, according to the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dams administration’s statement made today, Sunday.

This occurred not long after Ethiopian authorities announced that the third filling of the Renaissance Dam, which can contain up to 22 billion cubic metres of water and transmit water via the middle route of the dam, was complete.
The dam’s height exceeded 600 metres, according to Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, and we will sell power to our neighbours in order to promote shared development.
Abbas Sharaki, an Egyptian specialist, spoke to Al Arabiya.

Technically speaking, the dam has increased its capacity from 11. 1 billion cubic metres in the original 1964 proposal to 74 billion cubic metres, making it a serious threat to the area. The Great African Rift is the most notable unstable geological setting that led to its collapse, which is what makes it a water bomb with the same effects as a nuclear weapon, the argument goes.

He claimed that recent Ethiopian statements to work on the fourth storage and run the remaining turbines have heightened tensions between Egypt and Sudan on the one hand and Ethiopia on the other, challenging the international community and demonstrating Addis Ababa’s continued insistence on making decisions on its own that go against prior agreements, the Renaissance Dam 2015 Declaration of Principles, and the presidential statement of the President of Ethiopia.
He claimed that Egypt objected to the third store and urged, in a communication to the Security Council dated July 29,

The most recent satellite image of the Renaissance Dam showed that the third storage alone accounted for 9 billion cubic metres, with the total amount of storage over the previous three years falling short of 17 billion cubic metres.
The Serj Dam’s base was reached by the Renaissance Dam lake, but not its body, according to the image.

Additionally, it revealed the passage of water above the middle passage, indicating that the third storage took place from July 11 to August 11 at a height of 600 metres above sea level and contained 9 billion cubic metres of water, for a total of 17 billion cubic metres over the previous three years.

Notably, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry confirmed in a letter to the Security Council that Ethiopia’s actions are a flagrant violation of the Declaration of Principles Agreement reached in 2015 and a serious infraction of the applicable rules of international law, which oblige Addis Abeba, as the upstream country, to protect the rights of downstream countries.

She emphasised that Ethiopia has failed all attempts and endeavours made to resolve this crisis, explaining that it will not tolerate any prejudice to its rights or water security or any threat. She noted that Egypt had sought, during the negotiations that took place over the past years, to reach a fair and equitable agreement on the Renaissance Dam. the capacity of the Egyptian population, whose primary source of food is the Nile River.

The Egyptian Foreign Ministry reaffirmed that Egypt retains its legal right, provided by the United Nations Charter, to take any and all measures necessary to safeguard and protect its national security, including against any potential future concerns posed by Ethiopian unilateral activities.

While a specialist issues a warning about the imminent collapse of the Renaissance Dam, Ethiopia declares itself to be ready for the fourth filling.
