Following the announcement of the 2022 Nobel Prize for Literature, the camel publications in Beirut recently released an Arabic translation of Annou Erno’s young novel. This translation was done by Mubarak Amrabat.
As Mubarak Amrabat is translating one of her most significant works, the well-known novel “The Years,” the same house recently published its translation of its other work, “Shame.”
Regarding the occupation’s account, it is a brief novel by the French author “Annie Erno” that explores the deadly jealousy that envelops everything when a person becomes obsessed with his or her romantic partner. It also explores the feelings of deadly pain and the constant consideration of the other’s level of recognition of the occupation. Iskandar Habash’s translation of the French original was published from the same house.
One of the earliest Arab translations of the French author’s works was released in Sayyid Al-Bahrawi and Amina Rashid’s translation of her novel “The Place.”
She claims that Erno reviews each draught, and before she pushes her to publish, what she wrote gives her comfort. However, when the letters are published in a book and the decisions of the public start, her innocence is over!
She frequently claimed that her writing did not use rhetoric, but in reality, it is writing that avoids evoking empathy or mobilising transcendence, writing that comes from a modest upbringing and does not seek the reader’s sympathy.
The French author Annie Erno received the Nobel Prize in Literature in the first few days of October. Prior to receiving the prize, she was one of the most influential judges and was given the highest honour for her “courage and ingenuity in discovering the roots, dimension, and collective restrictions of personal memory.”
