Blinken says that China rejects the status quo in Taiwan

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken stated on Wednesday that China has long rejected the status quo in Taiwan, contradicting earlier assessments that Beijing had intensified its plans to capture the island.
After Chinese President Xi Jinping was elected to a third “historic” term as leader of the Chinese Communist Party, Plinken made his remarks, and Taiwan anticipated that pressure on the diplomatic front would increase.

The American minister added that the four -decades’ situation in which the United States recognizes to Beijing only, but provides the island with weapons to defend itself, helped to ensure that there is no conflict between the United States and China over Taiwan.
Blinken claimed that the following had changed.

a decision made by the Beijing administration that the current situation is unacceptable and that they wish to quicken the process by which they will repeat the unification.
He explained that China used “coercion and making life difficult in a variety of ways in Taiwan in the hope that this would accelerate the reconciliation, and also in the event that this does not succeed, it is adhered to the possibility of using force to achieve its goals.

Blinken, who provided a similar assessment at an earlier conference at Stanford University, alluded to Beijing’s use of forces and the conduct of significant military drills in August following Nancy Pelosi’s travel to Taiwan.

He pointed out that the status quo also allowed Taiwan’s prosperity, which has become a global dominant force in the field of manufacturing vital conductors for the auto and electronics industry, and if this is disrupted for any reason, it will have severe consequences for the global economy.
Plinken noted that people all across the world, not only in the United States or the surrounding nations, should be concerned about the pressure on Taiwan.

Taiwan, which has a population of 24 million, is regarded by China as being a part of its territory, and it has vowed to retake control of it using force if necessary. Beijing opposes any attempt that might lend international legitimacy to the Taiwanese government as well as any official exchanges between Taiwan and other nations.

Earlier on Wednesday, Taiwan’s foreign minister, “Joseph Woo,” predicted that Chinese officials will make more of an effort to cut Taipei off from its last allies in the Xi era, adding that it makes sense for our diplomatic situation to worsen.

According to Blinken, China opposes the current situation in Taiwan.
