Today, the Iraqi parliament votes confidence in the Sudanese government

About two weeks after Muhammad Shi’a Al-Sudani assigned the responsibility of forming the new government and after more than a year in which the country had a severe political crisis, the Iraqi parliament will hold a session to vote on confidence in the new administration and its agenda on Thursday.

The vote on granting confidence to the government is a decisive station after a year of the legislative elections that took place in October 2021, and a political paralysis, the background of political discounts between the dominant parties of the political scene, which reflected bloody violence in the street.
According to a formal document released by Parliament and made available by the official Iraqi News Agency, the session will begin on Thursday at 14:00 local time (11:00 GMT).

The paper states that the Speaker of the Parliament, Muhammad Al-Halbousi, set a date for voting on the cabinet and the ministerial curriculum on Thursday.
The Vice-President of the House of Representatives, Shakhwan Abdullah Ahmed, coincidentally declared his “agreement to offer confidence to the new government,” according to a statement released by him on Wednesday.

“The government and its programme must have the voices of the absolute majority of the number of deputies, that is, the half is one, as required by the Iraqi constitution, and the parliament’s readiness to hold a session tomorrow, Thursday, to vote on the ministerial curriculum and the names of candidates for ministerial portfolios.

The administration is confident when “the ministers individually and the ministerial curriculum are approved by an absolute majority,” as stated in Article 76 of the Constitution.

It is expected that this government will have a smooth confidence, especially since the parliament is dominated by the coordination framework forces, which includes several blocks, including the rule of law led by former Prime Minister Nuri al -Maliki and the conquest bloc represented by the factions of the popular crowd loyal to Iran, which nominated the Sudanese for the position with its allies in the “Administration” coalition The state”.

Along with the coordination framework, which controls 138 of the 329 deputies, the “State Administration” coalition also consists of the two major Kurdish parties, the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan and the Kurdistan Democratic Party, as well as the “Sovereignty” alliance led by Muhammad Al-Halbousi.

The Sudanese (52 years), who is the governor and former minister of the traditional Shiite political class, assigned on October 13 to form the government, by the new President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Rashid, immediately after his election.
Since receiving his job, Al-Sudani has persisted in his efforts to find a solution to the issue of how political positions should be allocated among the many blocs, sects, and components, as is customary in Iraq.

The primary critic of the coordination structure, Muqtada al-Sadr, declared he would not serve in the following administration.
