Central Okanagan immigration numbers lag behind the rest of Canada

Even though it has increased at a far slower rate than the nation as a whole, the percentage of foreign-born residents in Kelowna, British Columbia, has increased.
14.4% of residents in the Greater Kelowna area are immigrants, according to Statistics Canada’s most recent batch of Census data.
Stats Canada defines that as someone who is either a landed immigrant or permanent resident.
12 of them.

5% arrived in the Central Okanagan prior to 2016, and 2% did so in the five years that followed.
While this is happening, immigration is surging elsewhere in the nation.
According to the results of the 2021 census, immigrants made up 23% of Canada’s population in 2017 – the highest percentage in more than 150 years.
And that number is expected to go higher still, with one-third of the population estimated to be made up of immigrants as of 2041.

The three cities with the highest total immigrant populations are Toronto (46.6%), Vancouver (41.8%), and Calgary (31.5%).

Immigration levels in Central Okanagan are lower than those in Canada.
