Morocco: Dismantling a criminal network that is active in the field of illegal immigration and human trafficking

In the city of Nador, the Moroccan security forces were able to break up an organised criminal gang that was engaged in people trafficking and illegal immigration.

In a statement released today, Wednesday, the Moroccan security forces claimed that “the operations that were carried out resulted in the arrest of” 23 “people, including Moroccans and four people from sub-Saharan Africa, on suspicion of their involvement in mediation in bringing those wishing to immigrate and organising it through the marine paths, as well as providing logistical equipment and means used in the implementation of these criminal activities.

“The inspection operations resulted in the seizure of large logistical means, which are 125 maritime engines, eight rubber boats, and a large group of marine navigation equipment, including GPS devices, survival jackets, guidance, and speeds of speed, as well as setting 66 plates from Hashish anaesthetic, two water bikes, two entertainment boats, and ten cars, some of which carry forged numbering panels, which are suspected of using,” the statement continued.

“A workshop for the manufacture of rubber boats used in human smuggling and displacement of people was found,” he continued, noting that those involved under the prohibition were detained until the investigations conducted under the direction of the competent public prosecutor were finished. This was done to identify everyone connected to this criminal network and to keep track of any potential connections it may have both inside and outside of Morocco.
