Nathaniel Teed, first openly gay MLA, sworn into Sask. Legislative Assembly

As the first openly homosexual MLA, Nathaniel Teed was sworn into the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan this morning.
He is also the legislator who is now the youngest.
On September 26, he won the Saskatoon-Meewasin by-election, receiving the most votes the province had seen in forty years.
Teed aspires to diversify both the Saskatchewan government and the sector of education.

He previously told Global Saskatoon that “there’s quite a demand for queer representation in the education area and that’s why I thought it was extremely important to continue to have representative voices in our legislature.”
“I think it’s a significant step toward making sure that various views are heard in our legislature. I also think it’s critical that people in Saskatchewan see themselves and realise that the NDP is a place where they belong.

Teed is concerned about the legislature’s representation of the people of Saskatchewan.
In a press statement issued today, Teed stated, “I’m prepared to stand up for the people of Meewasin, regardless of how they cast their vote.” “This province has so much potential and I’m excited to do the hard work needed to strengthen our communities and rebuild our economy.

“Nathaniel galvanised the people of Saskatoon and won his seat by the widest margin in decades,” according to official opposition leader Carla Beck.
She is confident that Teed will stand up for the Meewasin community and deliver.
Nathaniel Teed will take on the role of critic for SLGA, SaskGaming, parks, culture, and sports, tourism, and SGI.
