Blinkne does not see a “short term possibility” to revive the Iranian nuclear agreement

On Wednesday, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken reaffirmed his belief that there was little chance of salvaging the nuclear deal with Iran, citing the dire state of affairs in Tehran and the growing unrest throughout the nation.
“At the moment, I do not see the potential of moving forward in the short future.”
“Why? Because because the Iranians will continue to try to introduce non -essential issues in discussions about the joint comprehensive work plan.

He stated, “We still believe that diplomacy is practically the best and most efficient means of preventing Iran from getting a nuclear weapon. ”
The US Secretary of State made her remarks the day after Iranian President Ibrahim accused Washington of “stalling” in efforts to resurrect the pact from which it withdrew during the term of US President Donald Trump.

After taking office, President Joe Biden voiced a desire to reaffirm the accord, but his advisers rejected Iranian demands, such as having the International Atomic Energy Agency stop looking into a previously suspected nuclear activity.

Following the death of young Muhsa Amini (age 22), who had been detained by the “Ethics Police,” huge protests broke out in September, making any American decision to rejoin the nuclear accord extremely difficult.

The revival of the Iranian nuclear agreement is not a “near term prospect,” according to Blinkne.
